Six Month Braces Technique Is A Great Option According to Orthodontist in Beverly Hills
February 21, 2008 – LOS ANGELES AND SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA – Orthodontic treatment can achieve dramatic results, but it takes time to do so.
Dr. Atoosa Nikaeen, an orthodontist in Beverly Hills, uses Powerprox Six Month Braces to significantly reduce the time patients must wear braces, while still achieving the desired results.
One common misperception about speedier techniques for aligning teeth is that these techniques hurt more. Untrue, Nikaeen said.
“A lot of patients who come in for a consultation ask if Six Month Braces require me to tighten the braces more at each visit to move the teeth faster,” she said. “Their main concern is whether Six Month Braces are more painful than other alignment techniques.”
Six Month Braces use wires that exert a light, continuous force to move the teeth and achieve proper alignment in a more painless fashion, Nikaeen said.
Most often, treatment can be completed in six months. Some cases can be completed in fewer than six months, while more complicated cases can take longer.
“Even with difficult cases, the treatment typically is completed within eight or nine months,” Nikaeen said.
Patients with the Six Month Braces usually see the orthodontist every four weeks for check-ups. They can be fitted with clear braces, which make them less visible on the teeth. Another option is lingual braces, which are placed behind the teeth.
“Most of our adult patients and an increasing number of our teenage patients are inquiring about less-noticeable braces,” Nikaeen said.
Dr. Richard J. DePaul Jr. developed the Powerprox Six Month Braces Technique. It is a combination of time-tested orthodontic techniques, some of which have been used for more than 60 years and have been well documented in orthodontic literature, according to DePaul’s Web site. A key ingredient of the PowerProx Six Month Braces procedure is the use of special archwires that exert a light, continuous force to gently move the teeth to the desired position.
Six Month braces are an affordable way to properly align front teeth, whether the teeth are crowded together, overlapped or have spaces between them, Nikaeen said.
The most common complaint among patients who ask Nikaeen about Six Month Braces orthodontic treatment is crowding, she said, adding that crowding is easily treated with Six Month Braces.
Often, cases of crowded teeth are the result of large teeth in a small jaw, or arch, according to the DePaul Web site. In many cases, simply rounding out and developing the constricted arch provides enough room to align the crowded teeth.
Since Six Month Braces are used to align the anterior teeth, Nikaeen doesn’t recommend using this technique to correct bite problems or severe TMJ cases, she said. Six Month Braces also aren’t the best treatment option for patients who are missing some of their teeth.
“I highly recommend that any patient interested in the Six Month Braces technique come in for a consultation to see if they are a candidate for it,” Nikaeen said.
