Ceramic Clear Braces

Because ceramic braces are made of a translucent, clear material, they’re highly popular with adults and older teens. Far less noticeable than conventional metal braces, clear braces can be used as a substitute for traditional metal braces.

The ceramic brackets are more fragile, however, and the elastic bands required to increase tension can discolor between office visits. In addition, because the ceramic material is abrasive to tooth enamel, these brackets usually are only used on the upper teeth. Depending on your bite, you also may be able to use ceramic braces on your lower teeth.
