Retainers

Retainers hold your teeth in their new position after your braces are removed. They must be worn every night to prevent even the smallest tooth movement while the surrounding gums and bone adjust to their new position.

You may notice extra saliva in their mouth during the first few days you wear a retainer. You also may experience some difficulty speaking when you first wear your retainer. Both these situations are very common and will disappear as you become accustomed to its presence in your mouth.
