Crossbite Beverly Hills

The cross-bite is a malocclusion in which the lower teeth or a single tooth is anterior of the opposing upper teeth/tooth. This may occur on one or both sides. (Cross-bite can cause asymmetrical jaw development in children, and also cause TMD.) It is recommended to correct cross-bite in children before the growth spurt is complete.

It also makes cleaning difficult, which increases the rate of tooth decay, making one more susceptible to gum diseases. The smile formed by a crossbite is often seen as aesthetically displeasing. Depending on how extensive the crossbite is, you may need orthodontic treatment to shift the teeth/jaw into their proper places.

Crossbites can be treated in several ways. If Dr. Atoosa Nikaeen diagnoses a single-tooth crossbite, she may recommend orthodontic braces be used to move the tooth to its correct position. If you have a multiple-teeth crossbite, the likely treatment includes jaw expansion with braces or other orthodontic appliances.
